Find The Best Shows in Las Vegas

Archive for May, 2009

Cirque De Soleil has made a real name for itself with shows in Las Vegas and this is one of five of them that are available to go see. The Beatles are one of the most famous bands in history and their music is loved by tens of millions. Therefore, it is safe to say that this show has a big head start when it comes to name recognition. You don’t have to love the music to like this show but it sure helps.

Beatles Love is playing at the Mirage Las Vegas and this show is a little different than the other Cirque De Soleil shows on the strip. More like a tribute to the songs and era of the Beatles, this show doesn’t have all the intensity of the other shows. You are taken through a journey of many of the popular Beatle’s songs as well as a few less popular ones and the show is all under the direction of the Beatles who are still alive.

The Mirage hotel and casino is a major Las Vegas hotel that used to house the Siegfried and Roy show before it ended due to an injury. Now, Beatles Love along with Terry Fator have taken over as the two shows taking Siegfried and Roy’s place. If you are looking for shows in Las Vegas that will give you a powerful night of entertainment with a bit of nostalgia thrown in, Beatles Love is a show you should check out.

One of the newest shows in Las Vegas is magician extraordinaire  Criss Angel. This show is at the Luxor on the Las Vegas strip and it is a Cirque du Soleil-Criss Angel production.  Anyone who has see Criss on his MindFreak TV show knows that this super hyped magician / performer is going to give you everything he’s got.

In Criss Angel: Believe, he will take his audience through a strange and mystifying journey through the haunting inner workings of his mind and the surreal world created by Cirque du Soleil performers in his show Believe, directed by Serge Denoncourt.

Unlike having a continuous story line like most of the other Cirque du Soleil shows, in this show the different scenes come randomly, very much like they are part of a dream. If you try to analyze how the scenes fit together while watching the show, your effort will be to no avail. Instead it is better to understand that various characters and scenes can pop-up arbitrarily, so you can focus on the cutting edge choreography by Wade Robson and innovative costumes by Mérédith Caron.

This show is a unique combination of two distinct art forms, Criss Angel’s clearly carved out persona as a magician and Cirque du Soleil. The different elements create an avant-garde dose of entertainment that you need to see to Believe.

If you are going to be deciding which shows in Las Vegas to see this year, if you like Cirque du Soleil and magic this is the show for you. Criss will be performing on and off all through the year of 2009.

Bette Midler is taking the place of Celine Dion at Caesars Palace Las Vegas after Celine quite in late 2007. Just like Celine, Bette Midler will be on the stage when Elton John is taking a rest or out of town.

This is another one of those nostalgic shows in Las Vegas that is a big draw with the baby boomer generation. Bette Midler has been around ever since the 70’s and her shows are always outrageous and never disappoint. The Bette Midler Las Vegas act will be just like all of her concerts which have big numbers and a big band along with some comedy which she is also known for.

When she is in town, her concerts will be 5 nights a week on the Caesars Palace stage which is just perfect for her. She will play all nights except Mondays and Thursdays and will be performing through the middle of November 2009. So, if you are a Bette Middler fan and are trying to decide what shows in Las Vegas to go to, check out her schedule and book a ticket.

One of the best shows in Las Vegas in 2009 is at the Hilton. Barry Manilow, icon from the 70’s and 80’s is playing there off and on throughout the year. He is also traveling to some other cities like Pittsburg, Rochester, Los Angeles, and Spokane but his home base is Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Barry Manilow will be belting out all his classics including “Mandy”, “Copacabana”, “Weekend In New England” and “Looks Like We Made It”. Barry Manilow is a superstar like few others and his popularity is still at a high after nearly 40 year performing.

The Hilton Theater seats around 1700 and Barry’s performances are known for their showmanship and professionalism. This is a show that will be the highlight of your stay in Las Vegas if you are lucky enough to catch one. Unfortunately, Manilow’s schedule is a bit of a mish mash and you might plan your trip to match when he is in town as is can be a bit sporadic.

If you are a baby boomer, this is one of the shows in Las Vegas that is a must see.  Make sure you get your tickets early before they are sold out if you are going to be in town!
