The Walking Dead Episode 1: The Start of a Hit

No one would have ever guessed that a zombie series would claim fame on television. The Walking Dead Season 2 is now highly anticipated considering how well Season 1 went. The Walking Dead Episode 1 last season shocked even zombie haters on how good the show was. From critics all over the world, it is gaining a fairly high rating that indicates universal acclaim for the show. The show produces real life zombies and one could not easily tell that it is phony. The cinematography is award-winning making it a favourite of many to watch even those who were not fans of this kind of genre before.

The rating for this show is phenomenal. The pilot episode of the first season was the most watched premier episode for any series being aired in AMC. If you think that this is high, then you must know that the season finale had over 6 million viewers. This is the highest number of viewers for the whole duration of the show. The demographics of the ones watching the show is also wide. The audience starts from the teenagers up to those in their 50s. This made The Walking Dead the most watched cable series for this age group. In the United Kingdom, where it also premiered in on the same week, FX had the most number of viewers for this series compared to any other of their shows. The high ratings in the UK continued for the rest of the season and peaked during their final episode.

Due to the popularity of this series, it is no wonder that they got several nominations from various reputable award giving bodies in the United States. The actors playing the characters in the show were also recognized and nominated for awards in their own respective categories. It was also awarded as on the top 10 television programs for the year 2010 by the American Film Institute 2010.

Limitless: A Quick Movie Review of a Dumb Movie That Should’ve Been Good

Have you heard of the movie Limitless? I thought it looked pretty good when I saw the previews for it and I was pleasantly surprised to see juggernaut Robert Deniro involved as one of the main characters of the story.

Unfortunately, like so many sci-fi movies, this one has a good premise and then it just… sucks.

In a nutshell, the story can be summed up like this:

Our lead character runs into his ex brother in law, whom he hasn’t seen in 9 years. The guy was a drug dealer then, and he’s a drug dealer now. But it’s no normal drug he’s pushing. He gives our guy some weird drug without much information. Then he dies. Then the lead character, let’s call him Ryan because I’m too lazy to google it and find his real name – Ryan takes it and it makes him really smart. Really smart.

Unfortunately for humanity, altruism and amplified intelligence appear to have no connection, so rather than do anything useful for humanity, he just goes and makes a lot of money in the stock market.

Insert random nonsensical appearances by Robert DeNiro, a business partner whose role is never really explained – I mean, why does Ryan even care about him? – and a Russian bad guy who wants more of the smart pills.

Ryan makes a lot of money, gets wigged out by the pill, and the movie ends with an F you to Deniro and everyone is happy except for you and me, the people who paid $10 to see this dumb film.

Um, yea. The end.

So basically you don’t care anything about the movie the whole time. You never know what’s up with this drug and if it’s really good or really bad. It ends with the character being okay, so I guess it’s okay. But then again everyone else died or got sick from taking it.

I hate how sci fi movies can never hold together a plot. It’s like you have to be bad at script writing when you make sci fi movies, which stinks because when science fiction films are they are freaking epic.

I just wish there would be more than 1 good one every 5 years.

This guest post is by fake film critic Ben who blogs at, coincidentially enough, his blog, which is called Dreaming Life. No, it’s not even a movie blog and the title has nothing to do with the movie Waking Life, oddly enough, but he does has a popular post on movies about dreams which you really should check. Bonus: Read carefully and you’ll even find him complaining about bad science fiction plots on that blog post, too.

Most romantic movies of all time?

Who doesn’t love a good romantic movie every now and again? Heck, some people swear by them, and will watch nothing but romantic dramas or comedies. When was the last time you saw a romance movie that changed the way you look at life, or at the very least gave you something to think about long after the movie had ended?

There are some absolute classics in this genre; some are quite obvious, while others are not. The stand-out in this category would probably have to be Titanic, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and a slew of other great performers. Say what you want about big-budget blockbuster productions, this one really made the grade. There are those who go so far as to argue that titanic is one of the greatest films of all time. We’ll see how it stands the test of time.

If you polled 100 people familiar with this genre of movie making, 95 of them would undoubtedly put The notebook on this list as well. I don’t know what it is about this particular movie, but it seems to end up on everybody’s list. It no wonder why, really; Ryan Gosling is great in everything he’s in, and Rachel McAdams rarely disappoints. Together, they are quite the power couple in this genre.

Forrest Gump garners a lot of attention as one of the more quotable flicks ever made, but how many people actually think of it as a romance flick? Gump’s adoration for the flawed and vulnerable Jenny Curran is unconditional, and the movie as a whole is something not to be missed.

Casablanca always seems to make the list too, but I’m actually partial to a little movie called Joe Versus the Volcano. This was the first pairing of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, and the cameos in this film are incredible. The storyline flows quite smoothly throughout most of the flick, and there are many humorous moments as well. All in all a great movie.

That’s just a short list of some of the best romance movies of all time, according to my tastes at least. 3 Other Wildest Dressers Aside From Lady Gaga

Dressing wildly is one of the most notable fashion! Well, it doesn’t really matter what body types you belong to as long as you can carry it. Anyway, you can always enroll into a fitness center if you think looking slim is going to help you look better with whatever dress you want to wear.

Here are 3 of the most successful women in their wildest sense of fashion.

1. Known as Björk, the Icelandic singer and songwriter, composer, actress and music producer is identified as one of Hollywood’s wildest and wackiest dressers. Her work includes three albums as its own lead singer.

She has seven solo albums and two film soundtracks that contributed to countless others including the film Léon in 1994.

She is most popular for her expressive vocals, broad soprano vocal range, and as well as a diverse and eclectic musical style. These she incorporates influences from many different genres, including pop music, alternative rock, jazz, avant-garde, ambient, electronic, classical, folk and trip hop.

One of her most controversial dresses would be the one that she wore in 2001 Oscars when she wore her celebrated “swan dress,” which was just auctioned off on eBay, for charity purposes.

2.Diana Ross is popularly known for Cover ups. She’s named the “Female Entertainer of the Century,” while declared the most successful female music artist of the 20th century in Guinnes Book of World Records. She has a total of eighteen American number-one singles, 12 as lead singer of The Supremes and six as a solo performer.  She was the 1st female solo artist to get six number-ones.

3. Paula Abdul is the American Idol judge with a unique fashion style. She catches attention during red carpet events. In the 1980s, Abdul rose from being a cheerleader for the L.A. Lakers to being a sought-after choreographer at the height of the music video era. She is a Pop-R&B singer with a string of hits in the late-1980s and early-1990s.

She won a Grammy Award for the “Best Music Video – Short Form” for “Opposites Attract” and won two times in the “Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography.”
