Writing Movie Reviews Is A Way of Helping Others

Have you ever considered the idea of writing film reviews in an attempt to help other movie buffs like you? If you love watching movies and you watch movies on a regular basis then you can consider writing movie reviews in websites that allow you to do so. Now, you don’t have to be a professional writer in order to write movie reviews for others to see and nor does the review have to be super long. As long as it is interesting, you will have won half the battle.

A lot of times, people find that writing movie reviews works like a therapy for them because it provides them immense happiness and relaxation. Besides, if you want to share your thoughts on the movies that you loved or hated, then there is no better way of doing so other than writing a movie review. You can post up your reviews in popular sites such as IMDB to acquire maximum exposure before you take off on your own.

Film criticizing is an activity that clubs fun along with intellect. It needs a person to think twice or thrice before he points out a movie as a bad one or a good watchable one. This indeed requires a person to ponder upon the various departments of film making and how they all have come together in a particular film.

Film reviews could be written by any movie buff after enjoying a movie. Having said that there are however certain factors that are predominant in attracting others to film reviews written by a particular person. The popularity of film reviews published on a blog could even help the critic to seize an opportunity to write reviews for magazines and earn through them.

A good film critic should definitely have the patience to watch movies that are likeable as well as those that could be slightly disappointing. It is this patience that would grow in him the ability to differentiate between good and bad movies.

RV The Movie: Road Trip To Laughter

There is something about RV living that is quite interesting and this is something that is captured in the 2006 film directed by Barry Sonnenfield entitled “RV”. Featuring the versatile comedy-drama actor Robin Williams, the movie RV is about Bob Munro (Williams) who wanted nothing else but to spend a nice vacation with his family and to escape his stressful job as a beverage company executive. Much of the film revolves around the family’s getaway trip to the Colorado, their visit to the Rockies, and the many mishaps and roadside troubles and adventures that they have along the way.

With Robin Williams leading the cast which also include Joanna Levesque, Cheryl Hines, Jeff Daniels, Josh Hutcherson and a whole lot more, this adventure comedy film is considered to be a perfect family film. In some countries, the film is marketed as “Runaway Vacation” as the term RV may be somewhat unfamiliar and distant in some cultures. The film grossed generously at the theaters but it has failed to impress film reviewers and movie critics, claiming that the film is too prefabricated in its comedic scenes. Positive reviews of the film center more on Robin Williams’ sophisticated style in oscillating between comedic and dramatic scenes, although not as cathartic nor searing as the actor’s previous films.

Still, the RV movie is still worth the road trip to laughter. Just because some of those film critics and mag editors have said that the film was an unprecedented flop or just too blunt to matter, doesn’t mean that you might not like it. This film is essentially kid-friendly and may be the perfect film choice to bond with the family members. It might not be able to satisfy the aesthetic film palate of some people but you may want to try sitting down with this movie and take it as it is. It’s not that bad. You’ll still get a good laugh from it.

The Twilight Craze and What’s Driving it

A lot of people were left scratching their heads when the Twilight craze became the in thing. Everywhere you turned there seemed to be someone reading or talking about the books. It got even crazier when the movies came out. We have seen nothing like it since the craze about Harry Potter started to take over the world years ago.

So what’s behind the entire craze about Twilight? Of course it all started with the books. Stephenie Meyer has published several books, but her success came when the first Twilight book that she wrote came out. Just to give you an idea of how big a bestseller Twilight is, it has managed to sell almost 90 million copies worldwide and it has been translated to almost 40 different languages. Meyer got the inspiration for the story from a dream. She dreamed about a vampire falling in love with an ordinary girl. What made their tale more compelling is the fact that the vampire felt the urge for the young girl’s blood. Meyer wrote the first installment of the series quite fast but she originally had no intention of getting it published. It was a good thing that she changed her mind.

There are a lot of vampire stories and the genre is certainly not a new one, but there has been nothing like Twilight that has captured the imagination of readers. It is not just the young people or teenagers who are hooked to the love story of Edward and Bella, adults too also find the story to be irresistible.

Now the Twilight craze is everywhere. You can buy Twilight party supplies and you can play the best Twilight dress up games and these are just proof of how popular Twilight has become. It has reached across cultures and age gaps to embrace everyone.

Limitless: A Quick Movie Review of a Dumb Movie That Should’ve Been Good

Have you heard of the movie Limitless? I thought it looked pretty good when I saw the previews for it and I was pleasantly surprised to see juggernaut Robert Deniro involved as one of the main characters of the story.

Unfortunately, like so many sci-fi movies, this one has a good premise and then it just… sucks.

In a nutshell, the story can be summed up like this:

Our lead character runs into his ex brother in law, whom he hasn’t seen in 9 years. The guy was a drug dealer then, and he’s a drug dealer now. But it’s no normal drug he’s pushing. He gives our guy some weird drug without much information. Then he dies. Then the lead character, let’s call him Ryan because I’m too lazy to google it and find his real name – Ryan takes it and it makes him really smart. Really smart.

Unfortunately for humanity, altruism and amplified intelligence appear to have no connection, so rather than do anything useful for humanity, he just goes and makes a lot of money in the stock market.

Insert random nonsensical appearances by Robert DeNiro, a business partner whose role is never really explained – I mean, why does Ryan even care about him? – and a Russian bad guy who wants more of the smart pills.

Ryan makes a lot of money, gets wigged out by the pill, and the movie ends with an F you to Deniro and everyone is happy except for you and me, the people who paid $10 to see this dumb film.

Um, yea. The end.

So basically you don’t care anything about the movie the whole time. You never know what’s up with this drug and if it’s really good or really bad. It ends with the character being okay, so I guess it’s okay. But then again everyone else died or got sick from taking it.

I hate how sci fi movies can never hold together a plot. It’s like you have to be bad at script writing when you make sci fi movies, which stinks because when science fiction films are they are freaking epic.

I just wish there would be more than 1 good one every 5 years.

This guest post is by fake film critic Ben who blogs at, coincidentally enough, his blog, which is called Dreaming Life. No, it’s not even a movie blog and the title has nothing to do with the movie Waking Life, oddly enough, but he does has a popular post on movies about dreams which you really should check. Bonus: Read carefully and you’ll even find him complaining about bad science fiction plots on that blog post, too.

Most romantic movies of all time?

Who doesn’t love a good romantic movie every now and again? Heck, some people swear by them, and will watch nothing but romantic dramas or comedies. When was the last time you saw a romance movie that changed the way you look at life, or at the very least gave you something to think about long after the movie had ended?

There are some absolute classics in this genre; some are quite obvious, while others are not. The stand-out in this category would probably have to be Titanic, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and a slew of other great performers. Say what you want about big-budget blockbuster productions, this one really made the grade. There are those who go so far as to argue that titanic is one of the greatest films of all time. We’ll see how it stands the test of time.

If you polled 100 people familiar with this genre of movie making, 95 of them would undoubtedly put The notebook on this list as well. I don’t know what it is about this particular movie, but it seems to end up on everybody’s list. It no wonder why, really; Ryan Gosling is great in everything he’s in, and Rachel McAdams rarely disappoints. Together, they are quite the power couple in this genre.

Forrest Gump garners a lot of attention as one of the more quotable flicks ever made, but how many people actually think of it as a romance flick? Gump’s adoration for the flawed and vulnerable Jenny Curran is unconditional, and the movie as a whole is something not to be missed.

Casablanca always seems to make the list too, but I’m actually partial to a little movie called Joe Versus the Volcano. This was the first pairing of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, and the cameos in this film are incredible. The storyline flows quite smoothly throughout most of the flick, and there are many humorous moments as well. All in all a great movie.

That’s just a short list of some of the best romance movies of all time, according to my tastes at least.
